Glimpses

Short-lived Moments in a Stories-style feed. Add as Glimpse when you post, activate later from a Moment or Memories, then watch, like, and comment.

A Glimpse is a Moment that is active for about 24 hours. Creating Moments and placements are covered in Creating & Sharing. Re-adding older Moments is also available from Profile → Memories.

What is a Glimpse?

Glimpses are ephemeral Moments shown in a full-screen viewer. The feed groups items by username. Photos advance after a few seconds; videos use their length. Tap the left third of the screen for previous, otherwise next. Swipe down to close. Swipe between users to move through the feed.

Open the Glimpses feed

Use the bottom navigation bubble-chart icon (app bar title Glimpses) when your account is verified and your feed access is public or public-only.

  • Empty: No Shared Glimpses
  • End of list may show No more data available

Supervised (friends-only) and restricted profiles do not get the Glimpses tab. See Privacy, Safety & Wellbeing.

Create a Glimpse with a Moment

  1. Open Create → Moment.
  2. On the caption step, turn on Add as Glimpse.
  3. Finish media, caption, and Posted to, then Post.

You need posting permission (canPost) to create Moments and add Glimpses at create time.

Activate an existing Moment

On your own Moment, open the share / action menu and choose Add Glimpse.

  • Success: Glimpse activated
  • Failure: Could not activate Glimpse

Activation uses a 24-hour window. There is no in-app control today to end a Glimpse early.

Re-add from Memories

Profile → Memories (sections include On this day, This week, and Milestones).

  • Copy encourages: Re-add your favorite older moments as Glimpses to kickstart memories.
  • Card tooltip: Re-add as Glimpse
  • Same success/failure snackbars as above

Watch, like, and comment

In the full-screen viewer you can like and comment when your tier allows it.

  • Comment hint: Comment...
  • Success: Comment added!
  • Failure: Failed to add comment

Comments go through moderation. Liking and commenting follow the same age rules as Moments elsewhere in the app.

Who can use Glimpses

  • Verified adults and independent minors with public feed access: Glimpses tab available
  • Unverified adults in browse mode may see Glimpses when feed access is public-only; posting and interacting still follow other gates
  • Supervised / restricted: no Glimpses tab
